CURRICULUM

First Year Fellows (PGY-4)

  • 5-6 months on inpatient consult services (2 week rotation in Endocrinology or Diabetes)

  • 4 half day outpatient clinics per week (2 diabetes, 2 endocrine – JMH, VAMC)

  • Research: identification of mentor, project, and preliminary work (e.g. IRB)

  • Quality Improvement(QI): identification of mentor, project, and preliminary work

  • 4 weeks vacation (2 weeks July-December and 2 weeks January-June)

  • Friday afternoon Thyroid FNA clinic (Twice monthly)

  • Lipid Clinic Wednesday AM( once monthly)

Second Year Fellows (PGY-5)

  • Subspecialty rotations: Diabetes, Thyroid, Neuroendocrine/Adrenal/Reproductive, Bone/Pediatrics( 5 weeks each)

  • One weekly continuity clinic (JMH)

  • 2 weekly academic clinics (Sylvester Cancer Center(SCCC) and Diabetes Research Institute (DRI)

  • Dedicated time for completion of Research and QI projects

  • VA Consults/DEXA/Dynamic Endocrine Testing Rotation

  • 5 weeks of Consult Service (“Refresher”)

  • National (or international) meetings

  • 4 weeks vacation (2 weeks July-December and 2 weeks January-June)

Impatient Service / Fellow on call

 

  • Each consult fellow takes home call via cellular phone Monday through Friday.

  • Weekends: One fellow covers the campus both the Endocrine and Diabetes service starting Friday at 4pm during their consult service rotation.
