BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Solano is Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine. She obtained her medical degree in Cali, Colombia. Dr. Solano completed Internal Medicine residency at the University of Pittsburgh and fellowship in Endocrinology at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami. She also completed a Master’s degree in Public Health at the University of Miami. During her fellowship, Dr. Solano performed clinical research investigating the association between the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis activity and insulin resistance in obesity.

In 2000, Dr. Solano joined the faculty at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine in the clinical educator career track.  Her clinical interest is diabetes and its vascular complications. Dr. Solano has worked closely with the cardiovascular Division in the multidisciplinary management of patients with cardiovascular disease and diabetes. She has participated in several multicenter cardiovascular trials in diabetes. She is an advocate for diabetes education and is actively involved in the clinical teaching of medical students, residents and fellows.
